Hard Kaur’s another name is Taran Kaur Dhillon but she is famous as Hard Kaur. Hard Kaur was born on 29 July, 1979. She is an Indian hip hop and rapper singer. She also sings Bollywood songs. Hard Kaur is also the first female Indian rapper.

Hard Kaur’s birth place is Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Her mother used to run a small beauty parlour there. Her father was burnt alive in 1984 during Anti-Sikh riots and after few days of his death, her mother’s beauty parlour was also burnt. Hard Kaur was very young when she faced all these incidents in her life. Her father’s parents only wanted to keep Hard Kaur and her brother with them and they told her mother to leave their house. This upsets her mother and she along with her children daughter (Hard Kaur) and son shifted to her mother’s parent’s house in Ludhiana. They lived there for few years.

Her mother remarried with an NRI in 1991 and then they shifted to Birmingham, England. Her mother again started working and studying further to open a beauty salon there. Hard Kaur did her schooling from there. She was interested in hip-hop music and she began her career in music as a rapper.

Her first famous song in Bollywood was ‘Ek Glassy’. This was hit and she became famous in Bollywood. After that she delivered lots of hit songs in Bollywood. She has sung for many Bollywood films such as Johnny Gaddar, Ugly Aur Pagli, Singh is King, Kismat Connection, Bachna Ae Haseeno, Ram Gopal Verma Ki Aag, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani etc.

She also released her solo album ‘Supawoman’ in 2007. She took part in Sony TV’s dance reality programme ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, Season 3’. She also performed at Live Earth India, 2008. She has composed song for Vodafone MTV Splitsvilla Season 1 show.

Hard Kaur has won ‘Best Female Act’ award in 2008. Recently she collaborated with Eminem’s group for her next album.

Hard Kaur has been featured on the cover of a Canada’s ANOKHI Magazine, North America's award-winning mainstream South Asian glossy in 2008. In a Film Festival in Toronto, her music video named Bombay Deewana was also screened.

She has acted in film Patiala House as Akshay Kumar’s cousin in 2011. She will be seen co-hosting a music reality show called ‘IPL Rockstar’ on Colours TV channel.
