Vishal-Shekhar are a music directing duo (Vishal Dadlani was born in 1973 and Shekhar Ravjiani was born on 29 November 1978) for Bollywood films. They have had a number of successes including Jhankaar Beats, Om Shanti Om, Tara Rum Pum, Salaam Namaste, Dus, Bluffmaster, Tashan, Bachna Ae Haseeno and Dostana.

The duo rose in prominence when they composed the score for the film Jhankaar Beats, which included the hit song Tu Aashiqui Hai. Their efforts paid off when they won the Filmfare RD Burman Award for New Music Talent for Jhankaar Beats. The music for the film Musafir became very popular with youths. They combined techno music with Indian sounds. The score of the film included the music hits Saaki and Door Se Paas. 2005 was a good year for the duo as they composed the scores for three hit films: Salaam Namaste, Dus and Bluffmaster.

Vishal Dadlani is also the vocalist of Mumbai-based electronic band Pentagram, and was a sometime-VJ at Channel V. Vishal is still very much a part of the Indian rock band Pentagram.

Shekhar is a trained classical singer and has a sound base of Indian music. Shekhar is married and has a daughter named Bipasha.

Their music is thus a combination of Indian classical with western rock influence brought by Vishal. They also were the mentors of Raja Hasan in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007, a popular singing contest on Zee TV .

Following the terror attacks on Mumbai on 26 November 2008, Vishal Dadlani launched a petition to ban live media coverage during the rescue operations.

Filmography

Vishal-Shekhar have been judges on the popular star hunt show, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007. and the musical talent show Jo Jeeta Wohi Super Star along with renowned director and choreographer Farah Khan. They are also the judges on Amul Star Voice of India Mummy Ki Superstars.

Both Vishal and Shekhar are Mumbai natives. Shekhar was born on 29 November 1978. He lives on Marine Drive in Mumbai, India and has named his bungalow "ASHIRWAD". Vishal, born in 1973, is a band singer and has been a part of a popular band Pentegram. Both are married and have children. Shekhar is married to a Maharashtrian and Vishal to a Sindhi. Shekhar is good friends with Sujoy Ghosh (director/producer) and Riteish Deshmukh (actor). Vishal and Shekhar have been friends since the late 90s. Vishal enjoys weekend trips to the Lunar Space Mission, Oregon, where he turns non-vegetarian.
