Mika’s original name was Amrik Singh but he is famous as Mika Singh. He is also known as a prince of the Punjabi pop. His birthplace is Durgapur, West Bengal and he was born on 10 June, 1977. Mika was interested in singing since his childhood. Even when he was in 8^th standard he left his school for the love of singing. He started learning to play music instruments at the age of 8 and when he was just 14 years old he had learnt Tabla, Harmonium and began to learn Guitar.

 

He started his journey as a Kirtan Singer and now he has become a pop star though he had to struggle before getting success.

 

Ajmer Singh Chandan is Mika’s father. He is a well trained classical musician from an old school. Mika’s mother Balbir Kaur also knows about folk music. Mika has six brothers and he is the youngest one. Mika’s oldest brother Daler Mehndi is a well-known Punjabi Singer; he has launched lots of his own albums and also delivered hit songs in Bollywood.

 

Mika Singh mainly does Bhangra/Rap kind of singing and is a well accomplished singer. He is a famous Punjabi singer. Though he launches his albums but he also works for Bollywood’s films. He has sung songs for the hit films such as Singh is King, Jab We Met. He has also worked as a playback singer for many more Bollywood’s films such as Dhol, Apna Sapna Money Money, Nahle Pe Dehla etc. Though he cannot sing all kind of songs but he has really given lots of hit songs in Bollywood. Mika has also composed songs for the film ‘Shoot Out At Lokhandwala.

 

Though Mika has done lots of hit songs in Bollywood, few of them are ‘Mauja Hi Mauja’, ‘Dil Mein Baji Guitar’, ‘Dil Todke Na Ja’, ‘Yeh Ganpat’ etc.

He has taken part on few TV shows such as Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao, Comedy Show on Sony, Music Ka Maha Muqabala, Jhalak Dikhla Jaa etc. Many times he is in news because of controversies.

 

Whenever Mika dose live concerts, large number of audience take part in his concerts. Once there were around 90,000 audience took part in his concert. His albums are generally highly appreciated by the listeners.

 

Mika’s first album was released in 1998 when he was 24 years old. Album name was ‘Sawan Mein Lag Gayee Aag’ and after that there was no stoppage for him he has delivered other hit albums such as Something Something, Ishq Brandy, Gabru and Dunali.

 

Earlier Mika has also acted in few films; one of his Punjabi films is ‘Mitti’. Along with acting he also composed music of this film.

 

Generally Mika gets involved in some kind of controversies and it causes lots of media attention towards him. Once there was news of his forcible kiss to Rakhi Sawant at one of his party. There was also news of beating the man who was with Rakhi Sawant. After that Rakhi filed a molestation case against him and also complained to the National Commission for Women. Recently she forgave Mika at a Comedy show on TV.
